Dark Horse and Lady in Green

There is a specific stillness that exists only between a horse and their person—a moment of shared breath and quiet reflection away from the bustle of the yard. This piece captures that heavy, beautiful pause where words are unnecessary and trust is absolute. It is a celebration of the private conversations held in the stable aisle, far from the gaze of the judge’s box.

Broad, expressive oil brushstrokes define this atmospheric scene, where a dark horse with a striking white blaze leans gently towards a rider. The palette is a sophisticated blend of sage green and earthy peach, grounded by the deep charcoal of the horse’s coat. Unexpected accents of cerulean blue in the shadows lend a modern, dynamic energy to the composition, while the soft textures of the background allow the intimate connection between the pair to take centre stage.
